THE TEAM

Shihan Pete Fawbert

CHIEF INSTRUCTOR

Shihan Pete has been training and teaching Karate for nearly 20 years.  He has achieved over 30 legitimate World Titles across a range of disciplines, most notably Full Contact Fighting and Kata.

Shihan Pete was awarded "Master" status as a 4th Dan due to his extensive martial art knowledge and pioneering approach to modern day self defence.  This honour is not usually bestowed until 5th/6th Dan.

He recently achieved his Black Belt in Kickboxing and is pleased to be offering new kickboxing classes to all students of SWKA.

He has been inducted into Martial Arts Hall of Fames globally in recognition of his dedication to Karate and the development of all his students.  He has successfully coached his students to multiple Regional, National and International titles.

Shihan Pete also is a senior Coach for the Great Britain Martial Arts Team as well as being Head Coach for the Wales Martial Arts Team.  He also holds a very honourable position of International Vice President of the World Martial Arts Games Committee (WMAGC)

Shihan Pete prides himself on running a club that is completely family orientated.  He is truely dedicated to the development of every student so they can achieve their aspirations.

Sensei Sian O'Brien

INSTRUCTOR

Sensei Sian has been an integral and inspirational coach since joining SWKA.  She came to the club as a brown belt from another great Wadoryu organisation, earned her black belt with us and hasn't looked back.

She has had great success on the competition circuit too, earning European and World Titles.

Sensei Sian is based at our Dorset location mainly teaching Mondays.  As a fully qualified school teacher, she has all the skills to bring out the best in all the students in her care.

Sensei Sian is the perfect role model for all our female students (both for young and older alike) as we pride ourselves on being an organisation that actively promotes women strengths and qualities.

Sensei Geoff Jones

INSTRUCTOR

Sensei Geoff is the next highest ranked Black Belt after Shihan Pete.  He has been training and teaching within karate for decades having changed styles a few times in-between.

Sensei Geoff is a fantastic coach with a wealth of knowledge that he really enjoys sharing with all the students of SWKA.  His military background alongside his friendly nature makes for the perfect combination of discipline and enjoyment.

Sensei Geoff has also been recognised by his peers at Martial Arts Hall of Fames ceremonies for his unwavering dedication to the development of everyone he teaches.

He also boasts a successful competition career with many titles under his belt.  He prefers to concentrate on developing karate knowledge for training over competition nowadays.

Sensei Geoff mainly coaches higher grade students at our Dorset location as he is very well suited to ensuring their pursuit of Blackbelt is achieved.

Sensei Aiden Carpenter

INSTRUCTOR

Sensei Aiden is the newest member to our instructor team after recently achieving his 1st Dan Blackbelt and completing his internal training program with Shihan Pete.

Sensei Aiden came to SWKA from another club after hearing about the high level of instruction available.  After a few years of hard work, dedication and desire, he was successful on passing his 1st Dan Blackbelt grading.

He then demonstrated a desire to help teach and after going through the internal instructor training program, he now takes regular classes and our students love the youthful energy he brings to the club.

Like all our instuctors, he has a strong competition pedigree which provides him with the ability to inspire our more youthful students to achieve all they can.
